Celtic ponder Armstrong bid

NEIL Lennon could set to make a move for Dundee United’s Stuart Armstrong.

The Scotland under-21 captain is the latest member of Jackie McNamara’s high-flying side to be linked with a move away from Tannadice, with the Mail claiming that Celtic want Armstrong to replace Joe Ledley.

Armstrong is under contract until 2016, and would reportedly cost Celtic well over £1 million if United elect to sell. (Mail)

Burnley eye move for McKay

ENGLISH Championship side Burnley are looking to snap up Inverness Caley Thistle striker Billy McKay.

The Northern Ireland international is reportedly set to be the subject of a £500,000 bid from the Clarets during the January transfer window.

McKay has scored 14 goals in the Premiership so far this season. (Sun)

Hoops keen on Henriksen

CELTIC could make a move for Norwegian midfielder Markus Henriksen after losing out on him last summer.

Henriksen has fallen out of favour at AZ Alkmaar, currently coached by former Rangers boss Dick Advocaat.

The Dutch side are thought to be willing to listen to offers for the midfielder, who cost them £1.75 million eighteen months ago. (Sun)

Ex-Ranger Russell puzzled by scout shortage

FORMER Rangers star Bobby Russell has described the Ibrox club’s lack of a chief scout as “strange”, and believes the appointment is vital for the club’s future.

Russell said: “It’s a strange situation not having a chief scout at Rangers but once the dust settles then I’m sure they’ll get that up and running.

“Having someone who can go and watch players and unearth a gem or to is important especially when money is tight.” (Record)

Dons’ Reynolds keen to return after horror clash

ABERDEEN centre-half Mark Reynolds could be set to return to action against his old club Motherwell on Boxing Day, just days after suffering a horrific facial injury.

Reynolds was stretchered off after a clash of heads with Inverness’ David Raven, and posted graphic photos on Twitter of his badly split upper lip.

Reynolds joked with Raven online after the game, saying: “Hope I never left teeth marks on your head!” (Twitter)

Celtic fans blast flag ban

THE Affiliation of Celtic Supporters Clubs have branded the ban on flags and banners in place for their Boxing Day trip to St Johnstone as “over the top”.

The Affiliation’s Kevin Graham said: “We have member clubs who take a banner bearing the name of their club to every match.
