OLYMPIC curling medallist Eve Muirhead, finance secretary John Swinney and Taggart actor Colin McCredie led the social media celebrations of St Johnstone’s Scottish Cup final triumph.

Muirhead posted a picture of herself posing outside Celtic Park proudly holding a Saints scarf aloft and tweeted: “Beauty!!! @St_Johnstone_FC are champions!!!! #party #ScottishCupChamps.”

Swinney, who is the SNP MSP for Perthshire, posted a picture of him and his wife Elizabeth Quigley from their seats in the Parkhead stands and tweeted: “Well done @St_Johnstone_FC. Outstanding effort and a result of which #Perthshire is very proud.”

McCredie, who is best known for playing the role of DC Stuart Fraser in Taggart tweeted after full time: “Wow!! Just......wow!!! #imgreeting #May17”

McCredie also appeared in the film Shallow Grave with Ewan McGregor, who is also a Perth boy.

The Hollywood star is currently filming in Italy, but retweeted his 
ex-fighter pilot brother Colin McGregor, who said: “Well done @St_Johnstone_FC Brilliant performance. Proud day for all sainties.”
