Rangers enjoy a healthy lead at the top of the table but the margin has reduced slightly over the past week with Celtic winning twice against Motherwell and St Mirren, and Rangers drawing their only match 1-1 at Hamilton.
There’s still a significant cushion of 18 points though and with Neil Lennon’s side not in action until Sunday – Rangers could increase the lead with a win – for a few hours at least.
Here’s all you need to know ahead of the game.

Form
Rangers: DWWDWWWW (1st)
Kilmarnock: LLLLLLWD (10th)
Kilmarnock visit Ibrox a different proposition from a few weeks ago. Manager Tommy Wright has had a week of training with his new team following his appointment on Monday, but he could not reverse the Ayrshire side’s fortunes in a midweek defeat against Motherwell. However Kilmarnock were improved in the SPFL Premiership encounter and have made life difficult for Ragers in previous meetings.
Rangers succumbed to a last-minute equaliser at Hamilton last weekend in a poor performance from Steven Gerrard’s side. However, many clubs would be more than happy with a run of form like the Ibrox side have currently – unbeaten in the league with only two draws in the last eight games.
Team news
Kemar Roofe is out after retrospective disciplinary action resulted in a two-game ban for his challenge on Murray Davidson. He joins Alfredo Morelos in suspension as the Colombian’s three-match ban expires after Saturday’s match.
That means Jermain Defoe or Cedric Itten, who started against Hamilton, could come in.
Scott Arfield is back in training but won’t be fit for the game, neither will long-term absentee Niko Katic.
Royal Antwerp and the Europa League is on the horizon for Ranger though and may be a consideration in Steven Gerrard’s team selection.

Previous Meetings
Kilmarnock defeated Rangers a year ago 2-1 at Rugby Park, however they are yet to score against Steven Gerrard’s side this season and Rangers have won 2-0 at Ibrox and 1-0 in a tight game at Rugby Park.
However with new boss Tommy Wright in the dugout, Steven Gerrard has seen off the Northern Irishman eight times in 14 attempts, so a tighter game could be in prospect.
