Grit, determination and tenacity plus three good goals – from a Saints’ point of view, at least – into the mix.

We made it harder for ourselves than we needed to, but it was an important three points that followed us back up the road to Perth from Easter Road on Saturday.

Other results went our way as well, meaning we’re level on points with Hearts and Motherwell, with a game in hand on the Edinburgh side, who have a goal difference advantage on us. As an added bonus, we now have an eight-point cushion down to sixth place.

We travel to Fir Park on Saturday – how big a game could that be in the current context? With Hearts not playing this weekend, three points would put us up to third place. Hopefully the players need no bigger incentive than that.
