Golf: Eagles help Ian soar to title

IAN FRASER soared to success in Duddingston's Senior Open - helped by three eagles in the one round at his home course.

The 63-year-old shot a four-under-par 68 and won the overall prize with his net 65 - the best scratch and net scores by eight shots and four shots respectively. It was remarkable effort, especially on a day when it was very windy and players also had to contend with a handful of heavy showers.

"The conditions were horrendous so it was certainly a good round of golf," said Fraser, a long-time Duddingston member who lost an eye in an accident many years ago.
