Hibs fans to get 1800 tickets for Ukraine clash

HIBS today revealed they've secured a minimum of 1800 tickets for the away leg of the Easter Road club's UEFA Cup clash with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

And the good news for the hundreds of Hibs fans planning to travel to the Ukraine for the match on September 29 is that those tickets will cost just 6.

Club officials travelled to Dnipropetrovsk this week to make arrangements for the visit of Tony Mowbray's side, accompanied by representatives of Hibs official travel partner TMG.

Hibs will be offering fans a one-day package deal costing 345, to include the 1800-mile flight, airport taxes and bus transfers.

The chartered flight will leave Edinburgh on the morning of the match, arriving in the Ukraine in the early afternoon with buses arranged to allow fans to explore the city before the match and returning to the Capital in the early hours of the next day.

Mike Schofield, director of TMG, said: "My colleague travelled with club representatives to Dnipropetrovsk to check all hotels and other facilities. We have seen the lack of quality accommodation, the restrictions on aircraft using the airport and the difficulties of entering and leaving the country despite recent relaxations which mean visas are not required.

"The only viable package that we are prepared to underwrite and put our name to is a one-day excursion to take in the match."

Hibs security chief Jim Pryde, who also travelled to the Ukraine with club secretary Garry O'Hagan, said: "It would be wrong to promote a package which fell short of the standards, including reassurances of safety, that people are entitled to expect. That is why we visited Dnipropetrovsk, listened to the advice of the British Embassy and other agencies out there before bringing together all the relevant information to enable TMG to develop the most appropriate supporter package."

Hundreds of Hibs fans have already made alternative arrangements and Pryde revealed the club wil be holding a briefing with them to share the information gathered before they depart for the Ukraine.

Tickets for the away leg - there will be no concessions - won't be available until after the first leg at Easter Road on September 15 but Hibs will be pre-selling vouchers next week. Further information is available on the club website.
