Hibs Fanzone

Steve McKenzie, Bellevue: "The bubble has burst and the bottles have crashed. People can forget about Europe because I don't think we will be finishing in the top four.

Dundee United and Hearts will grind out results that we won't be able to. It is disappointing but it's time we faced up to reality. We are nowhere near as good as we thought we were. We had been riding our luck for weeks and now the results are backing up the poor performances.

"As for the players on Saturday, they need to ask themselves why they were second to every ball and why it was clear from the first whistle that Dundee United were more up for it than we were. The midfield was totally outplayed by theirs' and it was embarrassing to watch at times. We played a bit better when we changed to a back three, but we couldn't have got any worse than we were in the first half.

"Why is Stokes always left isolated, when he could do with getting more service? Why are we praised for having good attacking players, but create next to nothing? Why is Hanlon always started at left back, when it was shown in the second half that he is a good centre half? Why is John Rankin allowed near a Hibs strip? Why is Chris Hogg captain, when it's clear Ian Murray should be?

On a positive note (and there only is one), my man of the match was Graeme Smith who looks a good steady keeper. He made a great save from the penalty."

Andrew Jeffrey, Dunbar: "Well it was good while it lasted but following the one goal defeat at Tannadice you have to admit we've been playing poorly and the reversal of fortunes was always going to occur at some point.

"To do so against the nearest and probably only challengers to third place is perhaps understandable but after the start we've had in the league Hibs could've been forgiven for expecting something from the match.

"Hibs started brightly without causing any harm and, with the unfortunate withdrawal of Merouane Zemmama through injury, Hibs lacked the guile and subtlety to further trouble United in the first half. United turned the screw and Hibs, despite seeing Graeme Smith enhance his reputation with a fantastic penalty save from Goodwillie, fell behind thanks to a sweeping move started by man of the match Morgaro Gomis and finished by Leither Danny Swanson.

"The second half brought further changes as Hughes tried willfully to change the flow of the game. Thicot replaced the ineffective Cregg at half time with Nish coming on for Stokes late in the day. The changes did nothing to exert any authority on to the game from a Hibs side lacking guts and seemingly not wanting to win the game as much as their hosts.

"The next few weeks will be massive in terms of Hughes showing his true worth. When the going gets tough and all that but I am sure it will be onwards and upwards.

"Referee Conroy frustrated both supports but which official doesn't nowadays – a six out of ten performance from the man in the middle."
