Hockey: Grange put a stop to Wanderers

Grange moved into third place in Division 1 of the Scottish National Hockey League with a 6-2 win at VWS Dundee Wanderers.

The Edinburgh team's scorers were Mark Johnston (3), Rob Barr (2) and Callum Milne. Wanderers, who trailed 4-1 at half-time, had goals from Mark McKenzie and Nick Gamble.

Western Wildcats moved top with a devastating 10-1 win over Edinburgh University, displacing Clydesdale who had no game.

The opening goal was by Andrew Sewnauth from the penalty spot, as were his other two, and teammate Ian Moodie also had a hat-trick, while Steve Percy, Neil Somerville, Callum Grant and Doug Simpson completing Western's goal tally

ANM Hillhead faced Grove Menzieshill in Dundee and were ahead in the opening half 2-1 before home captain Gavin Tomlinson had a straight hat-trick of penalty corner goals in the second Andrew Suttie and McPherson took the tally to 6-2.

In Division 2 CALA Edinburgh stay top after a 4-3 win over Granite City Wanderers, while second-placed Watsonians were held to a 3-3 draw by Harris FP.
