Jim Hamilton signs new deal with Gloucester

SCOTLAND lock Jim Hamilton has signed a two-year contract extension to remain with Gloucester until the summer of 2014.

Hamilton joined the Aviva Premiership outfit from Edinburgh last summer and enjoyed a fine start to life at Kingsholm as he helped the Cherry and Whites to win the LV Cup and reach the last four in the Premiership.

Hamilton, who is in the Scotland squad for their forthcoming World Cup campaign, is delighted to have followed in the footsteps of England wing Charlie Sharples by committing his future to Gloucester. “It’s a privilege and an honour to sign a contract extension,” he said.

“I’ve found my home so there was never any thoughts about going anywhere else. This is a working class club that looks after not just players but families.

“[Head coach] Bryan Redpath told me at the end of last season that he wanted me to be a big part of what happens at the club, and I was delighted. We had a chat and it’s always been on the cards since then. I love it here and so does my family. We’ve found our home and we’re very excited about what’s to come.”
